No Visa Countries
Under the Russian Federation visa-free regime, foreign citizens who fall within the following categories do not require a visa for visits of the length and nature outlined below:
Argentina (for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period (starting from the day of first entry)). Applicants planning to stay for more than 90 days in any 180-day period require a visa if they are going to Russia to conduct commercial or work-related activities. Diplomatic or Official passport holders require a visa for the whole period of their stay

Azerbaijan
Belarus
Bolivia (for visits of up to 90 days)
Bosnia and Herzegovina (up to 30 days for tourists and up to 90 days for other visitors). Tourist documents or the original invitation, as appropriate, must be presented to the Russian Immigration authorities
Brazil (for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period) - for tourists, private visits or transit purposes only. In all other cases, a visa is required
Brunei (for visits of up to 14 days) - Diplomatic and Service passport holders only
Chile (for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period) – the visa-free regime does not apply to work- and business-related visits and Diplomatic and Service passport holders
Columbia (for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period)
Cuba
Croatia (up to 30 days for tourists and up to 90 days for other visitors). Tourist documents (voucher in original) or the original invitation, as appropriate, must be presented to the Russian Immigration authorities
Dominican Republic (for visits of up to 90 days) - Diplomatic and Service passport holders only
Hong Kong (for visits of up to 14 days)
Iceland (for visits of up to 90 days) - Diplomatic and Service passport holders only
Israel (for visits of up to 90 days). Tourist documents or the original invitation, as appropriate, must be presented to the Russian Immigration authorities. The visa-free regime does not apply to Diplomatic and Service passport holders

Macedonia (up to 30 days for tourists and up to 90 days for other visitors). Tourist documents or the original invitation, as appropriate, must be presented to the Russian Immigration authorities
Moldova
Montenegro (for visits of up to 30 days). The visa-free regime does not apply to Diplomatic and Service passport holders
Mozambique (for visits of up to 30 days) - Diplomatic and Service passport holders only
Nicaragua (for visits of up to 90 days)
Peru (for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period). The visa-free regime does not apply to work- and business-related visits and Diplomatic and Service passport holders
Panama (up to 90 days in any 180-day period)
Paraguay (up to 90 days in any 180-day period)
Serbia. Citizens with biometric passports obtained after 9 April 2008 can stay in Russia for up to 30 days. Diplomatic or Official passport holders without accreditation in Russia can stay for up to 90 days. Serbian nationals with temporary and permanent resident permits can stay without time limits. In all other cases, a visa is required. The visa-free regime does not apply to Yugoslavian passport holders
The Republic of South Africa (for visits of up to 90 days)
Thailand (for visits of up to 90 days) - Diplomatic and Service passport holders only. Holders of ordinary passports can stay for up to 30 days
Tajikistan
Uruguay (up to 90 days in any 180-day period)
Uzbekistan
Venezuela (for visits of up to 90 days). The visa-free regime does not apply to Diplomatic and Service passport holders
E-visa
From Feb 4, 2021 citizens and permanent residents of the following countries may get e-visa ($40 USD): Austria. Andorra. Bahrein. Belgium. Bulgaria. Croatia. Cyprus. Chezh Republic. China including Taiwan. Denmark. Estonia. Finland. France. Germany. Greece. Holland. Hungary. India. Indonesia. Iran. Italy. Ireland. Iceland. Japan. Kuwait. Latvia. Lithuania. Liechtenstein. Spain. Sweden. Switzerland. Turkey. Vaticano. Validity: up to 16 days. Entry port: any region, entry port should be equipped with a special facility to check the e-visa.
How to apply for a Russian visa
STEP 1 GET YOUR RUSSIAN VISA INVITATION
Our company is authorized to issue Russian visa invitations (sometimes called a Russian visa voucher or Russian visa support), the document necessary for foreign travelers to apply for a Russian visa at their local Russian Consulate. It is impossible to apply for a Russian tourist visa without this document.
STEP 2 FIND THE NEAREST RUSSIAN CONSULATE
After receiving your visa invitation or voucher, you should visit the website or contact the Russian Consulate in your country to learn how to submit your documents and apply for a Russian visa. You can find contact details for all Russian Consulates worldwide on the official website of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
STEP 3 PREPARE YOUR REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Usual required documents to obtain your visa are: Visa Invitation; Original Passport valid for at least 6 months after the visa expiry date with at least 2 clean pages facing one another; Russian visa application form; 1-2 passport size photos; Travel Insurance (not required for US citizens); Consular Visa Processing Fee.
Different countries have different rules - please see the Consulate website for more details. Some Russian Consulates will request the original of the visa invitation instead of a copy. This is frequently the practice for business visas, however often business visas invitation can be sent electronically directly to the Russian Consulate. If you discover that the original invitation or voucher is required by the Russian Consulate, please tell us and we will send it to you by express post. We require that express postage be paid by the customer.
STEP 4 APPLY FOR VISA AT THE CONSULATE OR USE FULL VISA SERVICE
Russian visas can be applied for directly at the Russian Consulate or may be used Russian visa center.
IMPORTANT! A foreign citizen can obtain a visa to Russia only in the country of his/her citizenship. Exceptions include those who have a residence permit in a foreign country for a period exceeding 90 days. US citizens can apply for a Russian visa in any Russian Consulate in any country.
How to Fill in the Russian Visa Application
To apply for your Russian visa you will need to fill out a Russian visa application on the official Russian Consulate website: https://visa.kdmid.ru/PetitionChoice.aspx
Though most of the fields in the application are quite easy to fill in, we prepared a quick guide to clarify the questions that might be a little difficult or confusing.
Page 1 - Choose your country and language
To start filling out your visa application, first choose the country where you are going to apply for your Russian visa and the language you prefer to see for completion hints and descriptions on the online application.
Please note that whichever language you choose, you must still answer all the questions only in English and use only Latin-alphabet characters.
After selecting the country and language, please click the “Complete new application form” button on the bottom of the page.
Page 2 - Set your password
On the next page, you are asked to create a password to access your visa application form in the future.
Please do not forget to write down your Application ID displayed in the upper right corner of the page and also to remember your password.
Page 3 - Visa type and the number of entries
The next pages of the visa application require your personal information and trip details.
If you are using a tourist visa invitation to apply for your visa, please fill in the application according to the sample below:
Page 4 - Personal data and marital status
The next page requires your passport data. Please fill in your personal data according to your passport, including all your surnames and middle names listed there. If you are or have been married, please fill in your spouse's personal data as it is listed in his or her passport.
Page 5 - Passport data
Please proceed to the next page and fill in your passport number, issuance and expiration dates of the passport and issuing authority.
Page 6 - Inviting organization
The next page requires information about the travel company inviting you to visit Russia. You can find all of this information on your visa voucher (also called a Visa Invitation). The Reference number is the Rostourism register number written after the letters, “RTO”. This number contains 6 digits. The Confirmation number is the number of your voucher.
The screenshot below is just an example. Please use information indicated in your visa voucher.
Itinerary in Russia
Further on, you are asked to describe your itinerary in Russia. The Voucher only allows you to enter 5 cities. Please only write the cities and hotels mentioned on your voucher.
Page 7 - Additional information
Please choose Yes or No answers on the next page of the application and proceed to the Education and Work experience page.
Page 8 - Education and Work experience
The form asks you to provide information on the last 2 educational institutions you have attended excluding secondary school and your last 2 places of employment before entering your current job.
Page 9 - Previous visas and trips
On the next page, you should enter information on all of the previous Russian visas that have been issued to you and all of the countries you have visited in the past ten years. Please note that you should only enter one visit per field.
Page 10 - Parents' data
The next part of the form requires that you enter your parent’s personal data and your current employment details and home address.
Page 11 - Choose the consulate or visa application centre
Please proceed to the next step where you are required to select the location from which you are planning to apply for your Russian visa. It can either be a Russian Consulate in your country or an officially approved Visa application center. If you are applying through a 3rd Party visa service, please ask them which option you should choose.
Page 12 - Verify the information
For the last step you are asked to verify all of the information in your visa application and to edit any pages where there may be inaccuracies. Please check all of the data carefully and proceed to the next page. You won’t be able to edit it once you proceed to print or download the application form. Please note that your visa application will be stored for 30 days only. After that time you will have to fill it out once again.
And the very last step
After you print your visa application, please glue a 3.5*4.5 cm photograph which was taken no longer than 6 ago to the special field at the bottom of the 1st page, write the current date and sign the form.
