Altai is a place of power and a corner of Russia, where everyone should visit at least once. There is everything here: snowy peaks, turbulent rivers, endless plains, pristine lakes and landscapes of incredible beauty. Mount Belukha is the highest point of Gorny Altai and Siberia (4509 m), crowning the Katunsky ridge. This mountain has many names. The Russians called the mountain Belukha for the abundance of snow cover that covers the mountain from the top to the very bottom. Altaians called it "White Water" and the Kirghiz of southern Altai called it "Ice Mountain".

General tour description
Gorny Altai is the complete opposite of noisy cities with round-the-clock illumination and supermarkets at every turn. The local way of life has hardly changed for decades: herds of horses still graze here, people believe in spirits, and mobile communications appear sporadically. There are villages here that cannot be reached by car for most of the year, and residents carry water with a yoke and bake their own bread. This is the ideal place for anyone who wants to escape from the world of progress for a short time and find themselves in the wild. Belukha is a sacred mountain. Here, according to Buddhist legends, is the legendary land of the gods Shambhala and from here the great Buddha came to India. And they have long considered her a refuge of formidable forces and were afraid to even look at her. It was believed that the evil spirit Erlik dwelt in her ice caves, which would punish anyone who dared to climb the slopes of the mountain. It will punish with avalanches, rockfalls, landslides. They said that everyone who climbed Belukha would lose his sight. So, for example, the first daredevils who tried to climb glaciers and snowfields without dark glasses were really blinded by the burning reflected light. But even now, many believe that Belukha is a place energetically connected with the Cosmos. People are sure that the "navel" of the Earth is located here and gives people a charge of vigor and health.
