Altai is a place of power and a corner of Russia, where everyone should visit at least once. It has everything: snowy peaks, turbulent rivers, endless plains, pristine lakes, and landscapes of incredible beauty. People come here to escape from the hustle and bustle and be alone with nature.

Gorny Altai is the complete opposite of noisy cities with round-the-clock illumination and supermarkets at every turn. The local way of life has hardly changed for decades: herds of horses still graze here, people believe in spirits, and mobile communications appear sporadically. There are villages here that cannot be reached by car for most of the year, and residents carry water with a yoke and bake their own bread. This is the perfect place for anyone who wants to escape from the world of progress for a while and find themselves in the wild. The water in the streams is cleaner than tap water, to see the stars at night - all you have to do is raise your head, and there is no such silence as here in the city. The Altai Mountains are a place with incredible energy. They turned the map of the area into a kaleidoscope from different areas - with their own microclimate, plants, and sometimes even ethnic groups. The highest point in Siberia, Mount Belukha, is located here. Altai is the land of nature not spoiled by man. People here breathe deeply, children are born more often, the earth bears fruit more abundantly. There are almost fifteen hundred glaciers here. No one lives for many kilometers around them, birds and animals rarely come here - it is difficult to imagine a cleaner place than a glacier. A quarter of the Altai Mountains are nature reserves created to preserve unique landscapes and animals. High in the mountains, occasionally getting caught by camera traps, snow leopards, and rare argali live. Cormorants and seagulls nest on Lake Dzhulukul on the border with Tyva, and swans winter on Lake Svetly in the Altai Territory. In Lake Teletskoye, grayling and taimen are found, and in the rivers of the Altai Territory, there are more common carps and pikes. In Altai, hundreds of paths converge, and the stories of ancient peoples are layered one on top of the other. On the site of the modern Chuysky tract, the northern route of the Great Silk Road once passed, along which traders, storytellers, and shamans plied. It is not surprising that the world's oldest pile carpet was found in Altai. Since ancient times, whoever lived here: Scythians, Sarmatians, Turks. After them, petroglyphs were left on local rocks - drawings carved on stones or painted.
